Itinerary

DAY 01 Arrival at Cochin

On arrival we would receive you at the airport/railway station and transfer you to the hotel.

Old Harbor Hotel, Fort Cochin (2 nights)

Right in the center of Fort Cochin is charming Old Harbor Hotel, a three hundred year old heritage boutique hotel. Considered to be the first hotel in Kochi, the hotel remained as a residential home for the employees of the English tea broking establishments. The hotel is a fine example of the colonial presence and a combination of Dutch and Portuguese architecture. Today, the hotel is restored to one of the finest accommodation facilities in Kochi.

St. Francis CSI Church in Kochi was originally built in 1503, is the oldest church in India and has great historical significance as a mute witness to the European colonial struggle in the subcontinent. The Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama, died in Kochi in 1524 when he was on his third visit to India. His body was originally buried in this church, but after fourteen years his remains were removed to Lisbon. The church is situated at the center of Fort cochin.

The Paradesi Synagogue is the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations, located in Kochi. It was built in 1568 by the Malabar Yehuden people or Cochin Jewish community in the Kingdom of Cochin. The synagogue is located in the quarter of Old Cochin known as Jew Town, and is the only one of the seven synagogues in the area still in use. The Mattancherry Palace temple and the Mattancherry synagogue share a common wall. Antique and handicrafts shops are common here.

The Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace features Kerala murals depicting Hindu temple art, portraits and exhibits of the Rajas of Kochi. It has a pond in front of the palace and a temple within the compound. The palace is under the procession of The Archaeology survey of India.

Tea museum – Munnar is known for its tea plantations. The tea museum at Munnar showcases and highlights some of the fine and fascinating aspects of the evolution and growth of tea plantations in this part of Kerala. Some of the unique items on display at the museum are the original tea roller, dating back to 1905, the ‘Peloton Wheel’ used in the power generation plant in the 1920s. It is owned and maintained by Kannan Devan hills plantation company.

Eravikulam National Park is a 97 sq.km national park located along the Western Ghats in the Idukki district of Kerala .Twenty six species of mammals have been recorded in the park including the largest surviving population of Nilgiri Tahr, estimated at about 750 in number. You would need to board a bus provided by the forest department to enter the park. The terrain consists of high altitude grasslands interspersed with sholas. Anamudi (2695 m, the highest peak in India south of the Himalayas is inside this park.

Echo Point is an ideal place for adventure tourism and trekking. The fresh mountain air, the mist-clad hills and panoramic view make it worthy of a visit. The combination of the lake and rolling mountains generates an echo for the feeblest sound, that’s how this place got its name. Every loud call made from a spot on the lake embankment is returned manifold by the echo from the surrounding hills.

Top Station Just as the name suggests, top station is at a very huge height, almost close to the cloud experience. This is home to “Neelakurinji” the plant which buds violet flowers once in twelve years. A great view of the Western ghats is possible from the top. It takes almost 1 hr to reach from Munnar town.
