Itinerary

DAY 01 Arrival at Ernakulam, Hotel Travancore Court

On arrival we would receive you at the airport/railway station and transfer you to the hotel. Later in afternoon move ahead to Fort Cochin. Sightseeing options would be:

St. Francis CSI Church in Kochi was originally built in 1503, is the oldest church in India and has great historical significance as a mute witness to the European colonial struggle in the subcontinent. The Portuguese explorer, Vasco da Gama, died in Kochi in 1524 when he was on his third visit to India. His body was originally buried in this church, but after fourteen years his remains were removed to Lisbon.

The Paradesi Synagogue is the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations, located in Kochi. It is a perfect evidence of the presence of Jews, centuries ago in Kerala. It was built in 1568 by the Malabar Yehuden people or Cochin Jewish community in the Kingdom of Cochin. The synagogue is located in the quarter of Old Cochin known as Jew Town, and is the only one of the seven synagogues in the area still in use. Antique and handicrafts shops are common here.

The Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace features Kerala murals depicting Hindu temple art, portraits and exhibits of the Rajas of Kochi. It has a pond in front of the palace and a temple within the compound. The palace is under the procession of The Archaeology survey of India. After the dutch renovated the palace, it is also known as a dutch palace.

 

DAY 02 Cochin – Athirapally -Munnar [250 kms from Cochin via waterfalls], Check inn at Hotel Grand Plaza

After breakfast, check out from the hotel. Drive to Munnar via Athirapally waterfalls, reach Munnar by Evening, Check in at the hotel and settle down.

Athirapally and Vazhachal Waterfalls

Athirapally Waterfalls

Athirapally and Vazhachal are two beautiful water falls on the Chalakudy river which is set amidst the sholayar forest ranges. The drive through the forest itself is a refreshing one and the area is considered to be an Eco tourism and plastic free zone.

Athirapally waterfall is a 80 feet high water fall. The river is full of rocks and there is a small area where you can take dip which is guarded with nets and fences. The river comes from the forest and greenery on both the sides is eye appealing.

A few kilometers ahead of Athirapally is the Vazhachal waterfall, which is more of a very slanting waterfall. The view point is within a park where you can spend some quality time with nature. The flora and fauna of this region is quite amazing and if lucky enough, you could spot a hornbill.

Drive to Munnar and check inn at the hotel.

DAY 03 MUNNAR [100 kms for sightseeing]

After breakfast get ready to go towards Top station on the way.

Tea museum - Munnar is also known for its tea plantations. The tea museum at Munnar showcases and highlights some of the fine and fascinating aspects on the evolution and growth of tea plantations in this part of Kerala. Some of the unique items on display at the museum are the original tea roller, dating back to 1905 and the ‘Peloton Wheel’ used in the power generation plant in the 1920s.

Eravikulam National Park is a 97 sq.km national park located along the Western Ghats in the Idukki district of Kerala .Twenty six species of mammals have been recorded in the park including the largest surviving population of Nilgiri Tahr, estimated at about 750 in number. You would need to board a bus or a jeep provided by the forest department to enter the park.

Marayoor

A trip to the sandal wood farms and the ancient dolmens, According to your interest if you would like to go to Chinnar wildlife sanctuary for a trekking or a jeep safari, then this would be the best place to go. The road to marayoor is full of tea plantations on both the sides and the road is  zig zag.

DAY 04 MUNNAR [100 kms for sightseeing]

After breakfast get ready to go towards Top station on the way.

Mattupetty Lake and Dam – 13 kilometres en-route to Top Station at an altitude of 1700 m is the Mattupetty Lake.  Boating is a popular activity here and DTPC (District Tourism Promotion Council) Idukki has a facility for boating and has a fleet of speed boats, row boats and pedal boats. The indo Swiss live stock project is very nearby this beautiful picnic spot. The dam is just close by to the lake.

Echo Point is an ideal place for adventure tourism and trekking. The fresh mountain air, the mist-clad hills and panoramic view make it worthy of a visit. The combination of the lake and rolling mountains generates an echo for the feeblest sound, that’s how this place got its name.

Kundala Lake is an artificial reservoir located at Kundala, a charming town in Idukki District of Kerala. It is comparatively a small dam having arch shape. A narrow road on the top of the dam gives a panoramic view of the catchment area. The banks of this lake are full of lush green scenic forest.

Top Station Just as the name suggests, top station is at a very huge height with almost close to the cloud experience. This is home to “Neelakurinji” the plant which buds violet flowers once in twelve years. A great view of the Western ghats is possible from the top. It takes almost 1 hr to reach from Munnar town.

Day 5 Departure transfer to Cochin Airport/ Railway station
